Artist Info

What You Need to Know

Just for artists page: Information

How do I access the Minecraft server and all of the artist/VIP areas?

First, you need Minecraft Bedrock Edition. If you don't know how to get it, please read the "Accessing the festival" section. If you are still having difficulty, DM us at @hazfest_tasmania on Instagram or email us at hazchemsound@gmail.com

Once you have an Xbox live account, please tell us what your Gamer Tag is via either of the two contact methods listed above.

Then join the server with the server info provided on the "Accessing the festival" section. Once you are in, contact us again and we'll send a staff member in to get you sorted!

What are the rules around time? Like how long is a set?

Sets lengths will vary depending on music style, amount of music each act has that they can play and other factors unique to every artist. We'll cross those bridges when we get to them. But the max set length is 1 hour. The recommended set length is 30 mins and the minimum is 10 mins. We will be having 10 to 15 minute breaks between sets like at a real festival in order to find the next artist and make sure they are ready.

How will the sets work? like how will we perform and play Minecraft at the same time?

All sets will be pre-recorded. That part is up to the artists. Try to make your set have the best audio quality you can. We know some artists will have access to a decked-out home studio and some won't so we understand if it is hard for you. There are many free recording and editing programs called DAWs out there such as Pro-tools first or even Garageband! If you are performing individual songs and not a DJ set, for example, you can send us the individual songs and a setlist but we would prefer if you can and if you are performing a continuous set, like DJing, for you to send us one whole audio file. Your entire set. If you need help with any of the technical aspects of this process, contact the Instagram page @hazfest_music and Elliott (HAZCHEM) will help you out.

How will I communicate with the crowd?

There is a voice channel on our discord server only accessible to the current playing artist(s). When your set starts, You'll be able to join the voice channel. From there, everything you say will be broadcasted with the music. You can also just record in your own crowd engagement commentary and mix it with your set file. We do recommend taking advantage of the stage voice chat though.

What are the qualifications I need to get on the lineup?

We are not particularly fussy about who we accept onto the lineup. Our goal is to provide a unique experience to all artists and attendees in time of industry unrest from Covid-19. We do have some conditions artists need to meet to play at HAZFEST. Here they are.

  • HAZFEST is an Australian festival. We do not accept international acts.

  • Artists are paid after the festival at a set amount determined before the festival.

  • Artists need to supply an invoice to HAZFEST in order to be paid. Artists that do not have an ABN (Australian Business Number), need to provide a completed Statment by supplier as well as an invoice.

There may be more depending on the situation. These conditions may change.
